Mawa 522 MW (Orion) Coal Power Plant

Mawa 522 MW Coal Power Plant, also known as Orion Dhaka Coal Power Plant, is a canceled Ultra-supercritical (USC) thermal power plant was to be situated under in Gazaria Upazila in Munshiganj District of Bangladesh (Coordinates: 23.5478, 90.6204) approx. It was proposed by Orion Group in May 2014 to install and operate as Independent Power Producer (IPP) for 25 years. As per plan, the power plant planned for commissioning in 2022. After 7 years without any progress, the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) revoked its permission on June 2021.

The installed (gross) capacity of the power plant was to be 522 MW.
