Matarbari 1200 MW Coal Power Plant (Phase-III), also known as CPGCBL-Sumitomo USC Coal Power Plant, is a canceled Ultra-supercritical (USC) thermal power plant proposed was to be situated on Matarbari Islands under Moheshkhali Upazila in Cox’s Bazar District of Bangladesh (Location: 21.7032, 91.8795). It was proposed jointly by Coal Power Generation Company Bangladesh Limited (CPGCBL) and Japanese conglomerate Sumitomo Corporation to install and operate as a private Independent Power Producer (IPP) for 25 years.
