Bogura 113 MW (Confidence) HFO Power Plant (Unit 1)

Current Status: Operation


Bogura 113 MW Furnace Oil Power Plant (Unit-I), also known as Confidence Bogra-1 Power Plant, is a reciprocating engine-based power plant situated at Ranirhat in Birgram of Kharna Union under Shajahanpur Upazila in Bogura District of Bangladesh (Location: 24.7686, 89.3458). It is sponsored by Confidence Power Bogra Limited (CPBL), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of Confidence Power Holdings Limited (CPHL) which is a subsidiary of Confidence Group. CPBL declared its Commercial Operation Date (COD) on 17 November 2019 and, as per schedule, the power plant will retire on 16 November 2034. 


Capacity

The power plant's installed (gross) and derated (net) capacity is 113 MW and 111.3 MW respectively.


Context

The Confidence Power Bogura Ltd., situated in Birgram, Bogura, Bangladesh, operates on 14.5 acres of land and holds a significant contract capacity of 113 MW (Net), with an operational agreement spanning 15 years. This power plant, equipped with a reciprocating engine-based system featuring six MAN engines known for their turbochargers, is a technological marvel completed in November 2019. 


Land

The land acquired for the plant is 14.5 acre.


Fuel

The power plant runs on heavy fuel or furnace oil (HFO).


Contractor

Notably, Confidence Infrastructure Limited (CIL), a subsidiary of the Confidence Group, secured the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for the power plant, valued at BDT 197.5 crore. The inclusion of CIL underscores the vertically integrated approach of the Confidence Group, solidifying its commitment to effective project execution and comprehensive energy solutions (CPHLBD, 2023).
