Meghnaghat 282 MW Coal Power Plant, also called Orion Dhaka Coal Power Plant, is a canceled supercritical thermal power plant was to be situated in Islampur on Meghnaghat Island under Sonargaon Upazila in Narayanganj District of Bangladesh (Coordinates: 23.7703, 90.4083). It was commissioned to Orion Dhaka Power Limited (ODHL), a subsidiary of Orion Group, to install and operate as a private Independent Power Producer (IPP) for 25 years. The power plant was to start commercial operation in 2018. After 3 years without any progress, the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) revoked its permission on June 2021.
Capacity
The installed capacity of the power plant was to be 282 MW.
